NEW DELHI, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- At least one Indian security forces personnel was killed and nine others were injured in a terror attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir's capital Srinagar Monday, a police official said.
"The incident took place around 8 a.m. (local time) when when personnel of the para-military Central Reserve Police Force were combing Srinagar's Nowhatta area, following a tip-off that some terrorists were hiding in the area," he said, on condition of anonymity.
He added: "Seeing the area cordoned of by the security forces, the terrorists opened fire on them from three sides. When the para-military forces retaliated, terrorists ran into neighbouring houses. In the ensuing gunbattle, one para-military officer and two terrorists were killed."
