News Story: Indonesian president stresses commitment to fight militants

JAKARTA, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian president stresses commitment to strongly fight against militants on Tuesday, saying there is no place for them to grow in the country.

Speaking at his annual speech ahead of Independent Day celebration on Aug. 17, President Joko Widodo called on all communities to strengthen efforts to combat terrorism and prevent it from growing in the vast archipelago country.

"Let's stress that there is no place for terrorism in the country which holds the principle of the unity in diversity," Widodo said at parliament on Tuesday.
