News Story: 8 injured as blast hits security forces convoy in SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, July 27 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people were injured when a bomb went off near a convoy of security forces in Pakistans southwest Quetta city on Wednesday night, local Urdu media and officials said.

Sarfraz Bugti, Home Minister of Balochistan province with Quetta as the capital city, confirmed that four security personnel were also injured in the attack.

He said that the convoy of paramilitary troops Frontier Corps (FC) was on its routine patrolling across the city when it was targeted by a remote controlled device at Sariab Road area of Quetta.

He said that some unknown militants blew up explosives materials fixed on a flyover as soon as the security forces vehicle passed by it, and fled the scene.

The injured people have been shifted to a nearby hospital where two of them are said to be in critical condition.
