The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will soon acquire the first multirole response vessel (MRRV) upon its delivery in August 2016, Japan Maritime United Corporation (JMUC) told IHS Jane’s on 9 June.
“The vessel is part of 10 platforms ordered under a PHP8.8 billion (USD191 million) contract signed between the Philippine Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and JMUC in 2015. According to Philippine media reports, the first MRRV has been named Tubbataha and given the pennant number 4401. The vessel was launched on 12 May 2016,” IHS Jane’s 360 said.
“According to specifications provided by JMUC the MRRV features an overall length of 44 m, an overall width of 7.5 m and a depth of 4 m. The vessel is powered by two MTU 12V 4000 M93L diesel engines and has a standard cruising speed of 15 kt. The boat can accommodate a crew of 25, including five officers,” it added.
