Assistant Secretary for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance Frank A. Rose will travel to China, the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, and Japan from July 5 - July 16, for meetings and external events on space security, missile defense, arms control, and other bilateral and multilateral security topics.
From July 6-9, Assistant Secretary Rose will travel to Beijing, China for discussions on mutual strategic interests with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Space National Agency. Assistant Secretary Rose will advance the outcomes from the June 23-24 Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED) in Washington D.C. on strengthening cooperation in outer space. The Assistant Secretary will also discuss next steps in multilateral arms control in the context of the recent 2015 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference (NPT).
From July 9-10, Assistant Secretary Rose will be in Seoul, Republic of Korea, where he will meet with senior officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Blue House to discuss space security and a range of other strategic issues.
From July 13-14, Assistant Secretary Rose will next travel to Hanoi, Vietnam for meetings at the Vietnam National Satellite Center. He will also engage with senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on issues related to space security and multilateral arms control.
From July 14-16, Assistant Secretary Rose will conclude his travels in Tokyo, Japan. The Assistant Secretary will meet with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, and the Cabinet Office on ways to further reinforce seamless cooperation building upon the U.S.-Japanese partnership spanning seventy years. On July 15, Assistant Secretary Rose will deliver remarks, “Outer Space Security and the Future of the U.S.-Japan Alliance,” at Keio University.
