Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer, a retired US Army intelligence officer currently working at the Center for Advanced Defense Studies, told Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin, a Washington-based politically far-right website claiming to be an "intelligence source" for "insights into geo-political and geo-strategic developments around the world," that the critical infrastructure that keeps American running is vulnerable to a Chinese "Pearl Harbor-style" cyber attack.
In the interview, Shaffer said that China had already started to conduct espionage against the US' Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition Systems also known as SCADAs, which monitor and control the industrial processes of the nation. They are responsible for monitoring the flow of oil and natural gas, nuclear facilities, finance and banking systems, telecommunication, the pumping of fuel, food and water delivery, rail and truck transportation and traffic lights.
