The Aviation Industry of China is expected to become the world's largest maker of military drones by 2023, as the production value for military drones worldwide swells to US$2.3 billion, according to a research institute's findings.

Although outclassed by rival offerings made by top competitors such as the US and Israel, China's more open weapons export policies and significantly lower prices have yielded early success in military drone sales among nations that have trouble buying from Western states, according to a Reuters report published April 29.

The report also said that a number of leading Chinese manufacturers are vying to catch up with their Western rivals.
