Brunei: Exercise Penguin 16/15 Deactivated

MUARA, Friday, 24 April 2015 – Today marked the end of Bilateral Exercise code named ‘EX PENGUIN 16/15’ between the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), which was conducted from 20th April 2015 to 24th April 2015.

Over the last five days, both navies have achieved several objectives of the exercise. Both navies have shared and strengthen their naval professionalism through combined training and various sea evolutions.

Apart from Warfare evolution at sea both navies also had the opportunity to interact through friendly sport activities and cultural visits to some interesting places in Negara Brunei Darussalam.

During the closing ceremony, signing of Exercise Report was witnessed between Lieutenant Colonel (L) Khairil bin Hj Abd Rahman, Commanding Officer of KDB DARUTTAQWA as the Commander Task Group (CTG) 632.1 and Lieutenant Commander Philip Draper, Commanding Officer of HMAS ARMIDALE as the Deputy Commander Task Group (DCTG) 632.1.

Captain Jonathan P. Earley, Director Maritime Operations Fleet Command, who was representing RAN officially deactivated the exercise.

The closing ceremony took place at Multinational Coordination Centre (MNCC), Muara. Also present during the closing ceremony was Lieutenant Colonel (L) Pg Mohammad bin Pg Haji Damit, Fleet Commander of RBN, officers and enlisted personnel. RBN and RAN share common values as well as traditions and is looking forward on continuing on strengthening bonds and the professional relationship through the conduct of EXERCISE PENGUIN.
