Brunei: KDB Darulehsan sails to participate in Multilateral Maritime Exercise

MUARA NAVAL BASE, Thursday 12 March 2015 - KDB DARULEHSAN set sail for the multilateral maritime exercise in Langkawi in conjunction to the 13th Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition 2015 (LIMA’15), Malaysia which will be held from 17-21 March 2015.

The deployment is led by Commanding Officer Lt Col (L) Willie Padan, the ship will be involved in the multilateral maritime exercise along with ships from over 13 countries.

To bless the ceremony, a Doa Selamat was recited and followed by Azan on the forecastle of KDB DARULEHSAN by Lcpl Mohammed Shahrin bin Hj Sarpudin, Religious Department, RBAF.

It is the second participation for KDB DARULEHSAN in LIMA’15, the first participation was in 2011. The biennial LIMA’15 marks another milestone for the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN). The event is one of the largest multilateral maritime exercise and aerospace exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific, and is focused mainly on the defence industry.

The multilateral maritime exercise and maritime exhibition will take place at Resort World Langkawi while the aerospace exhibitions will take place at the Langkawi International Airport. Additionally, RBN participation in LIMA’15 focuses on the ASEAN community’s involvement as an initiative to strengthen ties and to boost the maritime relations.

The participation of RBN ship in the multilateral maritime exercise will further promote defence diplomacy with other participating navies especially the hosting country. Promoting good defence diplomacy between the various navies is important to enhance understanding, consensus, mutual trust as well as friendship.

Present during the farewell event were Commander RBN First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Abdul Aziz bin Haji Mohd Tamit and Colonel Reduan Bin Omar, Malaysia Defence Adviser to Brunei.

Also present were Colonel (L) Pg Norazmi Bin Pg Hj Muhammad, Desig Commander of RBN, Lieutenant Colonel (L) Pg Mohammad bin Pg Hj Damit, Fleet Commander, RBN officers and personnel, as well as families of the deployed personnel.
