Brunei: ROYAL BRUNEI NAVY AND VIETNAM PEOPLE'S NAVY SIGNS MOU


A signing ceremony for the Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) on Bilateral Cooperation was held this morning between Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) which was held at BRIDEX Conference Hall, Jerudong.

The MOU was signed by the Commander of Royal Brunei Navy, First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Halim bin Haji Mohd Hanifah on behalf of Royal Brunei Navy and on behalf of Vietnam People’s Navy was Commander In Chief, Admiral Nguyen Van Hien.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Permanent Secretary of Defence Policy and Development, Colonel (Rtd) Pg Dato Paduka Haji Azmansham bin Pg Haji Mohamad, senior officers from Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Finance Affairs and Trade as well as RBN and VPN delegations.

The signing of the MOU on bilateral cooperation between the Royal Brunei Navy and Vietnam People’s Navy is a milestone to the cooperation and also naval bond between both navies. It is hope that it will further consolidate and develop the bilateral relationship and cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. Thus, further strengthening the level of friendship, mutual understanding and confidence between both countries in achieving the aspiration of both nations.

In the memorandum of understanding, both navies aim to achieve four objectives:

1.    Formation of Royal Brunei Navy and Vietnam People’s Navy - Naval Working Group.
2.    Training of naval personnel.
3.    Establishment of Hotline Links.
4.    Goodwill Visit
