Brunei: UNIFIL RBAF PEACEKEEPERS HEAD FOR LEBANON


RIMBA, Friday 5 July 2013 - Ten Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) personnel will be deployed to Lebanon to participate in the peacekeeping mission with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

A send-off ceremony took place at the Royal Brunei Air Force Base in Rimba. Present as guest of honour who handed over the Brunei Darussalam national flag to the contingent leader was the Commander of RBAF, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.

Also present were, acting High Commissioner of Malaysia to Negara Brunei Darussalam, members of Defence Executives Committee, Directors, RBAF Senior Officers and Officers as well as families.

The ten RBAF personnel sent by Brunei Darussalam on the UNIFIL mission aims to maintain peace and stability in Lebanon in line with the United Nations' mandate.

The contingent is made up of Major Saifullizan bin Mohd Tuah, Captain Mohd Alimin bin Haji Subohi, Sgt Pg Sazali bin Pg Haji Matali, SSgt Saiful Rizal bin Dubahar, Sgt Mohd Yazid bin Kamis, Sgt (U) Mohd Saiful Rizal bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Cpl Mohd Hilhamd bin Haji Johari, Cpl (U) Mohd Fazil bin Mohd Jenin, LCpl Mohd Jalani bin Hamdani and LCpl Khairul bin Haji Latif.

The contingent will join troops from Malaysia under the command of Malaysian Company 9 (MALCOY 9). Brunei Darussalam has participated in the peacekeeping mission of UNIFIL since 2008.
