News Story: India's Military Spending Falls by 2.8%

India's military spend has fallen. In 2012, the country cut their military spending by 2.8 percent, after Indian armed forces were concerned of a slow in modernization. Nevertheless, it still remains in the top five major conventional weapons importers.

The decrease rate for India's military expenditure was more than the global military spending, which in real terms fell by 0.5 percent, according to a report released on Monday by world arms transfer watchdog, Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
