News Story: Australia to sign defence treaty with UK


A DEFENCE treaty to be signed by Australia and the United Kingdom will see the two countries share information, technology, policy and personnel in a bid to minimise costs.

Defence Minister Stephen Smith is due to sign the treaty with his British counterpart Philip Hammond in Perth on Friday, the UK Ministry of Defence says in a statement.

The agreement will produce a closer bond on matters of cyber security, defence reform, personnel exchange, equipment, and science and technology.
