Brunei: RBN LAUNCHES EXERCISE BLUE TOMBAK


MUARA CAMP, Monday 14 January 2013 - The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) launched this year’s series of Exercise Blue Tombak 2013 this morning at the Royal Brunei Navy Parade Square. Officiating the exercise was the Deputy Commander of RBN, Colonel (L) Pg Norazmi bin Pg Hj Muhammad as this year’s Exercise Director.

Exercise Blue Tombak is an annual RBN exercise involving base and seaward defence with mock participation from other RBAF services/units such as the Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ), Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF), Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) and Special Force Regiment (SFR).

The exercise will be conducted from 14 to 18 January 2013 at the Royal Brunei Navy base and also adjacent waters including Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

Exercise Blue Tombak 2013 involves defense of the Naval Base from conventional threats, the ability to raise, train and sustain and the fleet in support of Royal Brunei Armed Forces’ (RBAF) operations. 997 RBN officers and personnel are taking part this year.

The general aim of this exercise is to enhance cooperation between units and sub-units of the RBN in defending the base from external threats including those from seaward.
