With a range of 14,000 kilometers and carrying up to 10 multiple independently targetable reentry warheads, the Chinese DF-41 intercontinental ballistic missile has the capability to strike the continental United States, reports the Moscow-based Military-Industrial Courier.
The Russian media outlet said the People's Liberation Army's Second Artillery Corps conducted a first test launch of the missile on July 24. While other missiles like the DF-31A and DF-5A are able to reach the continental United States with ranges of 10,000 and 13,000 kilometers respectively, they are only designed to hit one target. The DF-41 is thus the only ICBM which enables the PLA to strike at multiple targets within the US simultaneously. The design of the missile is based on technology purchased or stolen from Russia's SS-27 long-range mobile missile, according to US intelligence.
