Brunei: EXERCISE HORNBILL 22/12


MALAYSIA, Monday 3 December 2012 - The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the Royal Malaysia Navy (RMN) will commence exercise hornbill 22/12 from the 3 December until 7 December 2012 at Pusat Taktikal  Maritim (PUSTAKMAR) in Lumut Naval Base, Perak, Malaysia.

 This seven days exercise utilises the action speed tactical trainer (ASTT) simulator aims to conduct training through combine maritime exercise especially in naval warfare operations in order to enhance interoperability between both navies.  The exercise is also aim to train participating command team in planning and execution of in the combine naval warfare operation.

Participating in this year’s exercise are two command teams from RBN ships, KDB Darussalam and kdb ijhtihad, and another three command teams from RMN ships, which KD Lekir, KD Kasturi and KD Laksamana Tun Pusmah.

The exercise commander task group for this year is Commander Ahmad Shafirudin Bin Abu Bakar RMN, Commanding Officer KD Lekir and Exercise Deputy Commander Task Group is Lieutenant Colonel (L) Pg Omaralli Bin Pg Jaya Indera Pg Hj Mokhtar Puteh, Commanding Officer KDB Darussalam.

A courtesy call was made by the RBN head of delegation to First Admiral Chin Yoon Chin, commanding officer PUSTAKMAR before the opening ceremony of the exercise on Monday, 03 December 2012.  The exercise was officially officiated by the commanding officer of PUSTAKMAR in which was witnessed by RBN and RMN senior officers as well as the participating command team from both navies.
