Sri Lanka: 100 Australia bound Persons intercepted off Kirinda Seas


Sri Lanka Navy intercepted 100 persons illegally bound for Australia in a multi-day trawler on 24th November 2012. The trawler named “SB Ali” was intercepted by a Fast Naval Patrol Craft attached to the Southern Naval Command 15 nautical miles off Kirinda seas.

Among the arrested persons are 74 Tamils, 18 Muslims and 08 Sinhalese that included 90 males (86 men and 04 boys) and 10 women (08 women and 02 girls). They are residents of Vavuniya, Trincomalee, Gandara, Ampara, Kilinochchi, Batticaloa, Beruwala and Dikwella. They were brought to Galle Harbour and handed over to the CID for further investigations.
