News Story: Pakistan may source drones from China

In addition to developing its own unmanned aerial vehicles, Pakistan is also likely to acquire drone weaponry from China, which is reportedly willing to sell it its latest CH-4 model.

Pakistan's development of drones has been a sensitive issue, especially as the United States controversially uses drones to attack targets in the country in its border region with Afghanistan, which Islamabad has called as an invasion of its sovereignty.

The US has rejected Pakistan's request to purchase UAVs due to concerns over Islamabad's intentions, Washington's desire to protect its technology and the complicated relationship between the two countries. Pakistan is officially a partner in the US war on terror but suspicions linger as to where Pakistan's loyalties lie, particularly its intelligence apparatus.
