India: Chief of Staff, Japan Air Self Defence Force on A Visit to India


General Haruhiko Kataoka, Chief of Staff, Japan Air Self Defence Force is on a three day goodwill visit to India from 19-21 Nov 12. The visit assumes special significance in the light of improving military cooperation between the two countries in consonance with India’s growing relationship with Japan. 

The General called on the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne and interacted with Senior Air Officers at the Air Headquarters. During the visit, General Haruhiko Kataoka is scheduled to visit Western Air Command, Para Troopers Training School at Agra and the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) at Bangalore. 

India-Japan relations are multifaceted and founded on historic linkages. Mutual high level delegation visits of both countries has contributed significantly to the consolidation of the existing ties and has given a further boost to the cordial relations between both nations. High level defence staff talks and exchanges between the Japanese and Indian Armed Forces with a focus on regional and international security, and steps to increase defence cooperation and exchanges have considerably improved our military to military relations.
