A U.S. delegation led by Special Representative for North Korea Policy Glyn Davies will travel to Asia October 16-20 to participate in a trilateral dialogue with Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) on North Korea. Ambassador Davies will also hold bilateral consultations with his Japanese and ROK counterparts.
Ambassador Davies will participate in an October 17 U.S.-Japan-ROK trilateral meeting in Tokyo hosted by Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Director General for Asian and Oceanian Affairs Shinsuke Sugiyama. The ROK delegation will be headed by ROK Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Issues Lim Sung-nam. The trilateral meeting is part of an ongoing dialogue among the three countries to exchange views on the current situation on the Korean Peninsula and reaffirm our continued close coordination on North Korea issues.
During his October 16-18 visit to Tokyo, Ambassador Davies will also hold bilateral meetings with Director General Sugiyama and other senior Japanese officials.
Ambassador Davies will travel to Seoul October 18-20 to meet with Special Representative Lim and ROK National Security Advisor Chun Yung-woo. While in Seoul he will also meet with other senior ROK government officials and several academics to further exchange views on regional issues including North Korea.
