Sri Lanka: Japanese Naval Ships arrive at the Port of Colombo


Japanese Naval Ship, Kashima TV- 3508, arrived at the Port of Colombo on a goodwill visit on 14th September 2012. It was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions.

Two other Japanese ships, Shimayuki TV- 3513 and Matsuyuki DD- 130, are also scheduled to arrive on 16th September.

“Kashima” is a training ship which is 143 meters in length. It has a displacement of 4050 tons. “Shimayuki” is also a training ship with a length of 130 meters and a displacement of 3050 tons. “Matsuyuki” is a destroyer which is 130 meters in length. It has a displacement of 3050 tons.

The visiting Japanese ships are scheduled to take part in a joint exercise with SLNS Samudura prior to their departure on 19th September.
