Brunei: RBAIRF COMMANDER ATTENDS THE 2012 GLOBAL AIR CHIEFS CONFERENCE AND ROYAL INTERNATIONAL AIR TATTOO IN UK

United Kingdom, 4 – 7 July 2012 – The Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force and delegation were in United Kingdom to attend the 2012 Global Air Chiefs Conference and Royal International Air Tattoo.

The 2012 Global Air Chiefs Conference was held on the 5th July 2012 at the Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC) in Shrivenham with the theme ‘Air-Sea Integration’. The host for this event was the RAF Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshall Sir Stephen Dalton.

The conference began with a meet and greet session followed by multiple presentations by guest speakers from various international Air Forces discussing their views and experience on the conference theme. This included ‘Future Character of Conflict’, ‘USAF Operational Perspective’, ‘USAF Strategic Perspective’, ‘RAF/RN Perspective’, ‘Realities and Challenges of Cross Domain Integration’ and ended with a panel discussion & question session.

On the 6th July 2012, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force visited RAF Brize Norton, which included a welcome speech from the RAF Brize Norton Station commander Group Captain S F Lushington, and an aircraft static display. The visit ended with a flight on the RAF’s Voyager, an Airbus A330-200. The flight took off from RAF Brize Norton and headed to RAF Fairford where Global Air Chiefs viewed the opening preview day for the 2012 Royal International Air Tattoo. The Royal International Air Tattoo is an annual event and one of the worlds largest military air shows, this years theme was the historic Diamond Jubilee for Her Majesty The Queen.  The air tattoo included air displays from various display teams namely the ‘Red Arrows’ from the Royal Air Force and ‘The Black Eagles’ from the Republic of Korea Air Force.

During the visit, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force and delegation also attended the naming ceremony for the A-400M and the RIAT Gala Dinner which was hosted by the Chairman of the Royal Air Force Charitable trust, the Chief of the Air Staff RAF, Northrop Grumman Corporation and Lockheed Martin held at Hangar 1205, Royal Air Force Fairford.
