RIMBA, Wednesday 4 July 2012 - Ten Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) personnel will be deployed to Lebanon to participate in the peacekeeping mission with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
A send-off ceremony took place at the Royal Brunei Air Force Base in Rimba. Present as guest of honour who handed over the Brunei Darussalam national flag to the contingent leader was Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, Deputy Minister of Defence.
Also present were the Commander of RBAF, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin , High Commissioner of Malaysia to Negara Brunei Darussalam, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Commander of RBAF, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Services Commanders and Commandants, RBAF Senior Officers and Officers as well as families.
The ten RBAF personnel are the eighth contingent sent by Brunei Darussalam on the UNIFIL mission in order to maintain peace and stability in Lebanon in line with the United Nations' mandate.
The eighth contingent is made up of Major Mohd Roasri Irwan bin Haji Tasrif, Captain Haji Mohd Aishamudin bin Haji Ali, Warrant Officer 2 Mohd Yusree bin Tamin, Sergeant Mohd Don bin Mohd Yusof, Sergeant Mohd Helmy bin Mohd Salleh, Sergeant Mardini bin Haji Kassim, Corporal Mohd Jalani bin Mohd Zainal Abidin, Corporal Sukarizal bin Janang, Lance Corporal Roslan bin Umar and Lance Corporal Kamarul Kifli bin Mohd.
The contingent will join troops from Malaysia under the command of Malaysian Company 8 (MALCOY 8). Brunei Darussalam has participated in the peacekeeping mission of UNIFIL since 2008.
