A once in a lifetime experiences awaits 20 employers who today travel to the Solomon Islands, to work along side their part time Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel on deployment to Operation Anode.
Parliamentary Secretary for Defence, Senator David Feeney, thanked the employers for their support of their employees and the Australian Defence Force.
“The employers taking part in Boss Lift will experience first hand the important contribution part-time Defence personnel make to the stability, peace and security of the Solomon Islands.
Employers from Clayton Utz, Visy Board, the Tasmania and South Australia Police Services, Bendigo Bank, Adelaide Bank, Bernie Lewis, Wodonga Institute of TAFE, and RAA of SA will be represented on the exercise.
During the three days in-country, the employers will hear briefings about Operation Anode, and see demonstrations of the soldiers’ work.
Employers will also experience some the more routine aspects of military life, such as eating from ration packs and visiting the firing range.
“Boss Lift is an opportunity for employers to see their employees use their cilivian and military skills on an ADF Operation. Teamwork, leadership, and resilence, are attributes that are clearly needed for success on operations as well as in the workplace. During Boss Lift, I know that employers will see these skills demonstrated by their employee, in the service of their Nation,” said Senator Feeney.
Operation Anode is the ADF’s contribution to the Australian-led Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands (RAMSI).
