The budgetary projections for the Defence Services are made on the basis of an assessment of their requirement for force building/modernisation, development of critical combat capabilities within the emerging geostrategic environment and overall national policy. Keeping these factors in view, the allocation for the Defence Services has risen steadily from of Rs.1,05,600 crores in 2008-09 to Rs.1,64,415.49 crore in the current year.
