RIANOVOSTI: Two stories of interest to the region

The Russian online news agency RIANOVOSTI has two stories of interest to the region;
The first of these concerns the deployment of troops to the “Kuril Islands” which were captured by Russia from Japan during WW2 and has been a cause for tension between the two nations ever since, in recent days the Russian Leadership have been antagonizing the Japanese by visiting these islands and the military build up will probably worsen the political and diplomatic situation.
The RIANOVOSTI story can be found HERE.

The second of these stories is about the 2011/12 military budget of India, which has been announced will rise by eleven percent, this is no real surprise as India is in the process of building/buying several new submarines and is evaluating several new fighter aircraft designs, of which India plans on buying 126 light fighters for the airforce.
