RBLF & Singapore Conduct Bilateral Exercise

Singapore, Thursday 10 February 2011 – Royal Brunei Land Forces and Singapore Army, Singapore Armed Forces are conducting a bilateral exercise, code-named Exercise Maju Bersama, from 10 to 17 Feb 2011. Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF), Colonel Haji Yussof bin Haji Abd Rahman and Chief of Army, Major-General Chan Chun Sing officiated at the opening ceremony of the exercise at Mandai Hill Camp yesterday morning.

About 500 personnel from 2nd Battalion RBLF, Headquarters 1st Singapore Infantry Brigade and 1st Battalion Singapore Infantry Regiment will participate in the 8-day exercise which includes brigade-level planning, urban operations training and a combined live-firing exercise.

First conducted in 1995, Exercise Maju Bersama underscores the close and long-standing defence ties between Singapore and Brunei. The Army and the RBLF engage in regular bilateral exercises, visits and professional exchanges, which have fostered mutual understanding and enhanced interoperability between the two armies.
