Brunei: Farewell Call By Malaysian Chief of Defence Forces

BOLKIAH GARRISON, Tuesday 17 May 2011 – The Ministry of Defence this morning received a farewell call by the outgoing Chief of Defence Forces, Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), His Excellency General Dato Paduka Seri Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Azizan bin Ariffin at Bolkiah Garrison.

Upon arrival at the Ministry of Defence, His Excellency inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by personnel from Third Battalion, Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF). This was then followed by a farewell courtesy call on Deputy Minister of Defence, Dato Paduka Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat and also to the  Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin.

During the tenure of His Excellency, he contributed profoundly to the enhancement of the long standing relationship and bilateral cooperation between the RBAF and the MAF where both armed forces regularly send its personnel for military exercises, bilateral training, meetings and seminars. This visit was also meant to bridge their friendship they have built during his tenure.

His Excellency and spouse, Puan Sri Datin Sri Noorainee binte Abdul Rahim as well as delegation arrived in Brunei Darussalam for two-day farewell visit.

Audience By Outgoing Chief of Defence Forces, Armed Forces of Malaysia
 
ISTANA NURUL IMAN, Tuesday 17 May 2011 – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) has consented to receive an audience to the outgoing Chief of Defence Forces, Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), His Excellency General Dato Paduka Seri Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Azizan bin Ariffin.

Accompanying His Excellency were Commander of RBAF, Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Defence Policy and Development), Awang Mohd Sahrip bin Othman and High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Dato’ Abdullah Sani bin Omar.

During the audience, both sides discussed ways to strengthen further bilateral defence cooperation and later bids farewell.

On 15 July 201, His Majesty’s has consented to confer the title of ‘The Most Exalted Order of Paduka Keberanian Laila Terbilang’  First Class to His Excellency in conjunction with His Majesty’s 64th Birthday celebration.

On a separate occasion, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha also consented to receive in audience the wife of the Malaysian Chief of Defence Forces, Puan Sri Datin Sri Noorainee binte Abdul Rahim. She was accompanied by the wife of the RBAF Commander, Datin Dayang Nurhayana Janis binti Abdullah.
