The structures have sparked speculation that they could be anti-air attack towers. After satellite pictures of these four tetrahedral concrete structures under construction on Spratly’s Taiping Island in the disputed West Philippine Sea, a media outcry has sparked.
“It is inconvenient for us to reveal any military facilities we are installing on Taiping Island and what their purposes are as they are all considered secrets,” Taiwan’s defence minister Feng Shih-kuan told reporters after a legislature session in Taipei on Tuesday.
