News Story: Chinese naval fleet to arrive in Manila

MANILA, Philippines - A Chinese naval fleet will arrive in Manila next month at the invitation of the Philippine government, the Chinese embassy said yesterday.

“As invited by the Philippine government, task group 150 of the People’s Liberation Army Navy of China will arrive in Manila this May,” said Edrich Lim of the political section of the embassy.

Relations between China and Philippines have improved under the Duterte administration. 

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said China-Philippines relations have been turned around. 

Questions were raised on the Philippines’ willingness to enforce the United Nations arbitral tribunal ruling as Manila seemed to be on a track to relinquish the gains that have been made.
