News Report: Delhi Police on High Alert After Daesh-Style Terror Attack Threat

New Delhi police are on high alert amid the threat of possible terrorist attacks in India's capital, local police sources told Sputnik on Tuesday.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — Police in New Delhi have been put on high alert after receiving an intelligence agency warning about a possible terrorist lone wolf attacks in India's capital, local police sources told Sputnik on Tuesday.

"Delhi police have received alert from Intelligence Agency regarding some terrorist strike… They can strike at congested markets and places where huge gatherings happens. These terrorist can strike like the lone wolf attack of Daesh," the police source stated. 

The source added that Delhi Police deployed Quick Response Team while enhanced checks are being carried out at all the sensitive areas in the capital. 

On October 6, security at the capital’s Indira Gandhi International Airport was tightened after intelligence agencies warned of a possible terror attack. Also in October, Delhi police were alerted to the threat of potential terror attacks on religious sites, crowded markets and isolated police stations. Security forces were deployed in large numbers to crowded areas, including Durga Puja religious festival venues.
