China has continued its onslaught of military drills in the East China Sea by commencing a three-day live fire drill in the Yellow Sea, reports our Chinese-language sister paper Want Daily.

According to the official website of the China Maritime Safety Administration, the People's Liberation Army will carry out the drills between noon on Aug. 24 and 6pm on Aug. 26 in the southern part of the Yellow Sea, which forms part of the northern portion of the East China Sea. All international boats have been requested to keep out of the area during the period.

The drills are perceived as a continuation of military activity from the PLA in the East China Sea, the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea and the South China Sea since late July. On July 26, the PLA commenced seven days of drills around the Gulf of Tonkin off the coast of northern Vietnam in the South China Sea, where it is embroiled in territorial disputes with both Vietnam and the Philippines. On July 29, the PLA also kicked off five days of drills in the East China Sea, where it remains in a tense standoff with Japan over the Diaoyutai (Diaoyu to China, Senkaku to Japan) islands.
