News Story: Imam Sahib District Governor Appeals For Extra Troops

The Imam Sahib district governor has appealed for reinforcement troops amid ongoing clashes between security forces and the Taliban in Imam Sahib district of Kunduz province.

Clashes broke out four days ago, when the insurgents launched an attack on a check post.

Imamuddin Quraishi, district governor said in a phone call to TOLOnews that the Taliban is only 500 meters from his compound. He warned if reinforcements are not sent to the area the district could fall to the insurgents.

“This is the fourth day since the Taliban launched their attack and the clashes are ongoing.

“The provincial police chief visited the district but did not bring reinforcements with him. If reinforcements are not deployed to the district, Imam Sahib will fall to the Taliban.”
