News Story: Thailand uncovers plot to murder the Prime Minister

Hanoi (VNA) – Thailand’s police said on March 19 that they have uncovered a plot to assassinate the country’s leader after seizing a weapon cache belonging to red shirt leader Wuthipong Kochathamakun, who has been on the run since the military coup.

National Police Chief General Jakthip Chaijinda told media that the police found a rifle with a scope, speaking clearly that the weapon were going to be used to assassinate the country’s leader, giving a hint to Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha.

Previously, on March 18, the police discovered dozens of rifles and grenades, and thousands of bullets at a house belonging to Wuthipong Kochathamakun. They also arrested nine men in connection with the arms seizure. The police said they had clear evidence that the suspects and their network were aiming to cause unrest.
